Located in a quiet northern corner of Suwon, this is the world's very first and only museum shaped entirely like a giant, porcelain toilet bowl. While it sounds like a joke, it is actually a beautifully curated, meaningful cultural park dedicated to the history of human sanitation. The Visionary Behind the Bowl: Who is "Mr. Toilet"?
The story of this house is just as fascinating as its shape. The building was originally the private residence of the late Sim Jae-duck, a former mayor of Suwon.
Mayor Sim was deeply passionate about improving global sanitation and public restrooms—a mission he kicked into high gear while preparing Suwon for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Because of his life-long obsession with clean toilets, locals nicknamed him "Mr. Toilet."
In 2007, to celebrate the launch of the World Toilet Association, he tore down his old house and hired a famous architect to build this giant, luxury toilet-shaped home. After he passed away, his family donated the house to the city, transforming it into the public museum we see today!
